Starting Somewhere

There have been many times where I have felt like there were a set of levels that I needed to accomplish to move forward.

I go to School, get a Degree, get a Job, have a Family, Done.

It seems simple enough right? But what about all the dreams you had. The dreams that you had as a child of what you would become as an adult. The set of levels may not be for everyone as we see now a days in social media, the news, and in our close circles. We hear of people donating millions of dollars to help those in need, creating something wonderful that brings them success, people owning big homes, having luxury cars, traveling around the world, and whatever else you can think of. At the end of the day we tend to yearn for their success, for their ability to have the tenacity to accomplish their dreams. So why do we get stuck behind everyone else on the escalator when there are so many open stairs around us?
We do not need to follow the normal path of school, degree, job. We do not even need to follow the steps of those that have found a way to succeed and realized their dreams. We may not fit that mold and therefore we may end up failing even though others have succeeded. We need to skip the escalator and take our own stairs to success.

I came to the realization that the escalator that I was stuck on had too many people in front of me, and it did not move at the pace that I needed it too. This caused me to start thinking about how many successful investors and entrepreneurs got to where they did. I started to read books and online articles written by these successful people. In doing so, I came to the realization that all it takes is hard work and financial education. Having the ability to recognize a good investment opportunity and having the tenacity to jump into it without regret was everything. I started to read books like:

  • “Unshakeable” by Tony Robbins
  • “The $100 Startup” by Chris Guillebeau
  • “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill
  • “The book on Rental Property Investing” by Brandon Turner

These set of books, to name a few, provided extensive knowledge on starting micro businesses, taking a handle on my current finances, what I think is what I become, and step by step how to become a rental property investor. This range of knowledge opened my mind to a new path. A new way to skip the escalator and go up my own stairs. A set of stairs that only I can take and at whatever speed I want without anyone getting in the way.

I am not there yet, far from it in fact. I just got started but that is the point of all of this. Just get started somewhere. Even if you think right now is not the right time for whatever reason. Those are just excuses because you are afraid of change, of failure, of criticism, and of losing everything. I am not saying do something drastic that will make you lose your current financial stability. All I am saying is that right now is as good as a time as any to start improving your financial education. A time to start exercising and start eating healthier. A time to go back to school and finish your degree. Any time is a good time to do something different to improve your life for the better

There is no right way to start. You just have to get started. I did not know how to start, what to try, so a friend of mine told me, just try everything. THAT WAS IT!. That made me realize that I did not have to get it right the first time. Plan and plan, until I feel confident that the plan would succeed. That is not how success is reached. We have to fail multiple times before we see the progress we always desired. I enjoy writing and I thought, why not start a blog. Any time is a good time to start something. I just have to start somewhere. So, this is my first entry. All I can say is, just get started, that’s it.

JUST GET STARTED!
